Topics that cross my mind frequently:
Craft projects, books, mental health and self discovery, somatics, body movement and expression, paganism and witchcraft, and much much more.

My sewing machine went rogue but it was surprisingly easy to remove the mess and re-stitch that line after rethreading the machine. These pants are pretty much ready for the drawing belt and they should be finished before the weekend!

#wipwednesday round-up. I'm trying so hard to get this racoon done but I marathoned so hard and then lost steam right before getting to the fiddly bits. Just the framing artifact, back stitching, and framing/finishing. I can do this.
The other projects waiting in the wings to launch back into action as soon as the coon is done: Alpine, Pants, and Totoro

The bebe Totoros on the side kinda look like he's giving peace sign jazz hands ✌️✌️

Ok so it's supposed to be on hiatus, but I can't bring my baby shower gift to work anymore since now all the recognizable bits are finished and I sit right next to my boss (the pregnant one). So I brought #Totoro back to work and put the last 20 or so stitches in the black outline.

For the top that is. I still need to put in the face and the floral acorn decal on his tumtum..

I'm so excited to see this one emerge 😍 #crossstitch

And in my #audiobook rotation, I just finished A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E Schwab. I really liked the premise, and I think I liked the characters? Mostly? Sort of? I think I really struggled with the narrator and would possibly have enjoyed the story more in print. I may continue the series in a bit once I sort out what I'm *actually* going to read next.
When this was done, I picked at random Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune and I really want more commuting time so I can keep listening 🀣
I decided I was ready to handle some Grit again, so I went back to my project of re-reading Dresden Files #books and picked up no. 3, Grave Peril.
But then, my hold on Sandry's Book by Tamora Pierce came available. Oops.
I read it as a child and wanted to relive it. This time I struggled with the straight forward/abrupt action that happens in younger YA books. But I can definitely see why I liked it so much as a kid. I will probably try to re-read the rest of the series as I continue my journey
My sudden and urgent need to do all things craft (the Alpine #crossstitch , my pants #sewing project, and the raccoon cross-stitch) has made reading much less of a priority. After reading Becky Chambers' Psalm for the Wild Built and Prayer for the Crown Shy, I was struggling a bit with what to pick up next. I had a nice cozy pallet cleanser so...
Naturally my book selection got as layered as my pile of craft projects. Woops.
Book talk to follow:
The baby shower was postponed so there's still hope this guy will be done by then. After taking a break on Thursday and then being just kinda tuckered out on Friday, I have lost some of the gumption to pout ALL of my attention into it. Like, I needed to actually do some housekeeping today so it took a lot to get me started back up again. BUT! Now the hat is done, just need to add the ears and surrounding decos! #crossstitch
At bedtime on Sunday, I had the face done. Didn't do anything last night because I had to sleep for 12 hours (mostly unrelated), but bedtime tonight is the below picture plus almost as much done on the right. Getting it done and finished before the baby shower (on Friday after work πŸ’€) is going to be a tall order, but one can dream right? Lol

I don't know if it's my eyeballs or my lighting but the two lightest tans and the two whites which are technically different colors look *identical* while stitching. But the overall effect is pretty solid once the actual contrast colors have been set down!
So far, the techniques I've tried out so far including railroading and loop start- but after various trials, I'm settling on the loop start where the loop is made near the end rather than the middle. I'm still not sure I trust it.
