Our 9-year-old son came home from school & said that some boys at recess offered to play with him if 'he hugged & kissed a girl.'
He responded to them, "No, that's inappropriate," & told us he didn't mind not being able to play with those boys after all. Afterwards his teacher shared she was happy he stood up to peer pressure.
Y'all—it's never too early to teach boys about consent and boundaries. Have the conversation. Then have it again. And again. Boys will be the boys we teach them to be.
Everyone is high on http://post.news right now. But I'm curious how diverse is the board? Who are they consulting? How are they avoiding the pitfalls of every other tech outfit ruined by tech bros and greed? Hopefully they're learning and building the right way.

HEY HEY FRENZ on mastodon.social! You may want to MOVE to a new instance, very soon.
Why?
Mastodon is a bunch of islands that can talk to each other. The smaller and more spread out we are, the easier things are to moderate. Horizontal scaling FTW!
All of you who fled that one site 🐤 ended up at mastodon.social for likely a few reasons. It was obvious, it was big, and it's where you saw a bunch of folks going.
But it has a long history of being poorly moderated, which means a LOT of instances are silencing or blocking it. Which means you're on the big island that SEEMS like it's "where everyone is", but in fact, it's a giant island unto itself (momentarily trending toward turning into a post-bird-site echo chamber), and huge swaths of the Fediverse don't talk to it, or even see it.
If you want the quality of interaction (and moderation!) Mastodon is known for, move thy funky buns to a smaller instance of cool folks you enjoy.

It’s going to take some time as users to shed the expectation that an algorithm will curate our threads for us.
But there’s power in the new autonomy. Rediscover interests, be intentional about following accounts and liking toots. Seek out knowledge instead of having it spoon-fed to you.
