Mixing with headphones only; if you can't invest in suitable monitors or room preparation or you're on the road:
Besides good headphones invest your money also in Waves NX (e.g. CLA) for room simulation and Sonarworks SoundID for EQ curve correction.
My tests showed the best result when you put both plugins at the end of the master bus chain: soundID using the profile for your headphone before NX (not using any headphone profile!). Mix/Master the song. Export the song after both plugins are off.
