Retro gaming enthusiast and writer. Also a content designer working for the NHS, but mostly about the pixels on here. Dozy dad.
On my way to the #Amiga #Kickstart event in my old stomping ground Nottingham. Can’t wait! Here’s my ticket from the last time I was this excited about a gaming event.
Getting prepped to host a little #RetroGaming gathering tomorrow. Pinball Dreams and Tetris competitions are on the cards.
The Bitmap Brothers set out to make what they called a “cutsie platform game” for the #Amiga but ended up with something much weirder and more interesting when they released Magic Pockets in 1991. It was fun revisiting this one for Retro Gamer magazine this month! #RetroGaming #Gaming
Enjoying this holiday read. It’s about the brevity of life and accepting the limits of what we can do within the (on average) four thousand weeks we have on earth. That may sound downbeat but it’s actually really uplifting and makes a lot of profound points. #Books #Bookstodon
Investigated those prolific robbers, the Bonanza Bros, for Retro Gamer this month. Includes a Q&A with Sega hero Manabu Kusunoki about his coin-op classic  #RetroGaming #Arcade #Sega
Who remembers #HeroQuest? It was fun writing about the original board game and its home computer adaptations for this month’s Retro Gamer magazine. #RetroGaming #Amiga
Squeezed in some Norco and Thumper this evening.
Putt-Putt has truly stolen the show in my Steam replay this year.
I can’t really do it justice with a screenshot, but Tetris Effect is a superb game to zone out to at the end of a long day. It’s quite a meditative experience.

I’m reluctantly reaching the final pages of The Making Of Prince Of Persia: Journals 1985–1993. It’s been one of those fascinating, hard-to-put-down reads for me. As a non-game dev but a big gaming nerd, I’ve really enjoyed soaking up details of the design process and the highs and lows that came along the way. Tipping my cap to @jmechner!
