@clarissawam Nein, 1&1 gibt es immer noch. Wir hatten unser Festnetz mal bei 1&1 und das war inklusive eines kleinen Webspaces, den Katja damals für PLOP genutzt hat. Aber meine Seiten (und auch meine E-Mail) waren immer schon bei Netbeat. Das war zeitweilig mal in Rumänien angesiedelt, inzwischen aber wieder in Deutschland.

@clarissawam Meine Webseiten und Domains habe ich schon immer bei netbeat.de (also seit 1999). Soweit problemlos und auch ziemlich günstig.

@daringfireball But the point is, that Walmart does not support contactless credit card payments. This is kind of strange from a European point of view, because in Europe there are no credit card readers in shops that can't be used contactless. Very view shops support Apple Pay officially over here, but that doesn't matter, because you can use Apple Pay everywhere, nevertheless.

@daringfireball People care about web apps they need (maybe for their job) that are not working on the iPad. They are probably not aware that the reason is the lack of support for other browser engines like Chromium. Their conclusion is just that the iPad is not a good enough computer.

@rednikki All iOS browsers are basically Safari, because Apple allows no other browser engines. The best privacy gives you Safari with a good content blocker like 1Blocker. Also turn on Private Relay if you have iCloud+ and set the default search engine to DuckDuckGo or Ecosia. But if you really want a separate browser app, take the DuckDuckGo app.
