Listen. My friend
@Jazzhampton built an app that—when Cops pull you over—gets you a lawyer on your phone ASAP upon voice command or 1 touch, who witnesses & video records the interaction, manages the convo, & deescalates

FYI it's incredibly affordable. Free for low income people and $7/mo for everyone else. It's in about 25 states now and will be nationwide in the next 60-90 days.

I know, I know, but it’s still funny to me.

Masks are not a lockdown.
Nor is testing before events.
Or getting boosters.
Or improving ventilation & filtration.

None of those interventions (despite some people's best efforts to claim otherwise) cause more harm than good. Every person who cares about the economy, jobs & quality of life will support sensible #COVID19 precautions, not oppose them.

Some people are advocating for millions more to die and many more to be chronically disabled. Reject their patent lack of sense & empathy.

When one door closes, lock it securely, along with all your other doors, before any inspirational quotes get in.
It’s interesting to me that there hasn’t been a new anti-trans argument since the 90s and all of them get debunked all the time, but they still don’t give up because they have to reiterate arguments they *know* are wrong because they feel like bigots when they have to say “I just don’t like trans people, they creep me out” which is at the core of it all.
As a cis het woman, the way a trans person gets a Gender Recognition Certificate has no impact on my daily life or rights whatsoever. The rights conferred by a GRC have no impact on my daily life or rights. Trans people have never limited or threatened my daily life, rights or safety. Just one person's experience/opinion? Sure. That's the same as every gender critical argument. Anecdata is not evidence. Evidence shows Self ID does not cause problems for society and makes trans lives easier.

If #COVID19 gaslighting were applied to other risks:

“We tried laws against murder, yet murders still occur. We must rescind those laws and learn to live with murder.”

“People are tired of not smoking, so we should just ignore the risks and allow smoking, again.”

“I feel safe driving drunk, so I should be free to do so.”

“Seatbelts can trap you in a car after an accident, so you should avoid wearing them.”

“There's a mass shooter in the mall, but I really want to shop, so I will do so.”

Variable name vs how it’s being used vs documentation in comment above it
excited for these guys to decide who gets to have medicine

When the Republican extremists (redundant?) have full control over the House agenda, once they actually permit a speaker to be named, one of their top priorities is to cause the United States to default on its debt. That will trigger a global economic catastrophe.

It will be essential if and when they do this, for Big Journalism to make totally clear -- with no quoting "both sides" bullshit -- what has happened.

What worries me is that I'm not sure journalists will rise to the occasion.
