Did Guiliani just tell an interviewer that the IRS handed over the tax returns of people like Wilbur Ross to Trump.... and that Trump was having Guiliani VET these rich people, by going over their tax returns??? And that Trump told him to 'just take them home and go over them'??? And....vet them for WHAT??? Donations???
I have a feeling we're in for another big news blowup...or we should be!

New: The Jan 6 committee learned some striking information about how social media companies failed to properly address the threats of real-world violence. But members avoided diving deeper for fear of offending Republicans and tech companies, our reporting found. Incredibly important issue for public understanding that was ultimately cast aside

What the Jan. 6 probe found out about social media, but didn’t report

The Jan. 6 committee's 845-page report offered few details of social media's role in the Capitol riot. Transcripts and an unreleased memo shows the committee knew more.

@cnnbrk I wonder how much this change is due to out migration.
@dmoser Par for the course. My small town built lots of bike lanes so that homeowners no longer have to leave their trash cans in their driveways or on the curb. So convenient.

The worst part of magical thinking as it relates to stock markets is believing that the best hope for progress on our greatest challenges — #climate change, racial #injustice and economic #inequality — are corporations and individual investment and consumption choices, rather than political mobilization and collective community action. 😒😔

@msquebanh I marvel that this needs to be pointed out to people. It's like crashing a party where you don't know anyone.
@rjblaskiewicz @DavidCorn The article doesn't exactly say that. And it presents zero, none, not any evidence that Kavanaugh was telling the truth when he said he had not received gifts from other than his family. Now while that may turn out to be the case, it hasn't been proven. As the article points out, there would have been orders of magnitude more due diligence by the press if the same charges had been leveled against, say, someone named Clinton.
If you've ever wondered why Democrats can have better facts about policy, but still lose the political argument, I've written about schemas -- a concept from neuroscience and psychology that helps explain why political messaging too often misunderstands how the brain works and relies on facts too much. https://brianklaas.substack.com/p/schemas-and-the-political-brain
Schemas and the Political Brain

Understanding how cognitive shortcuts work when processing new information is crucial to understanding modern politics—and it's a facet of cognition that Republicans manipulate extremely effectively.

@DavidCorn It's amazing how our crack investigative news teams can dig dirt on a powerless schmuck like Santos but can't figure out who paid Brett Kavanaugh's mortgage and credit card debt.
