And you said the New York Times didn’t do investigative journalism. Here, they describe the impact of gambling losses now being 90% deductible. It’s this kind of gutsy and nuanced reporting that makes the Times what it is today.
The President of the United States said that the kind of flood that hit Kerrville and the Guadalupe had never happened before. Then again he also said that tariffs are the only way to right the wrong of how badly the US is being treated by countries like Belgium.
The F.B.I. Is Using Polygraphs to Test Officials’ Loyalty

Some senior officials who have taken the test have been asked whether they said anything negative about the F.B.I. director, Kash Patel.

No, you shouldn't get too excited about the "everybody gets a Stingray detector" news.

For clicks, most articles are burying the lede:

The problem, however, is that no current phones can do this. To unmask fake cell towers, Android phones need to have version 3.0 of Google's IRadio hardware abstraction layer, which has to be supported at the modem level. [Wired]

But you don't have to wait! For US ~$20, you can build your own today. Check out @micahflee's excellent writeup here:

All you need is three things:

  • An Orbic RC400L (mobile hotspot, ~$13 used)

  • A cheap SIM card (doesn't actually need to be activated, just inserted, $3), such as
  • https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08H5SM9M9

  • EFF's Rayhunter firmware (free)

Things are scary in the US right now. ICE is disappearing students for protesting genocide and kidnapping innocent people off the streets to enslave in El Salvador. All over the country, people are taking to the streets every week to protest oligarchy, and fascist counter-protesters are starting to show up

I wish people would stop talking about the Post Office Horizon "tragedy" -it isn;t tragic, it is criminal, and it is way way past time some people were actually arrested
Rondor Coffee, Parsons Green. I was going to have a pour over until realizing I would need to explore financing options. So I ordered the “double espresso” for only £3.20. Ah, this royal throne of kings, this scepter'd isle, This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, This other Eden, demi-paradise … gimme your money motherfucker.

Turn around, you’re under arrest for crimes against Mexican food.

One scarcely has the fortitude to imagine the #2 most ordered breakfast.

    The best people.

RFK Jr. promotes a food company that makes ultraprocessed meals

Health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. raved in social media posts on Monday about the $7-a-pop meals that are delivered directly to the homes of Medicaid and Medicare enrollees. He even thanked Mom’s Meals for sending taxpayer-funded meals “without additives” to the homes of sick or elderly Americans. The spreads include chicken bacon ranch pasta for dinner and French toast sticks with fruit or ham patties. But an Associated Press review of Mom’s Meals menu, including the ingredients and nutrition labels, reveals that the company’s foods are the type of heat-and-eat, ultraprocessed food that Kennedy routinely criticizes.
