Went to a Salif Keita concert in New York a few years ago. The concert was preceded by an on-stage interview with the artist at the New York Town Hall. The academic formality was smashed apart within two songs of the actual performance. A seemingly voodoo West African magic gripped the audience, who invaded the stage and a riotous night ensued.
