UK here, checking labels and boycotting anything that's from the USA, as well as other USA products that might be made here in the UK or EU.
Fascists fuck off!!!
Of minor importance, the charity bookshop I volunteer at has decided not to stock works by JK Rowling. Several volunteers are non binary, and we have long had issues with her books: if we got in a valuable Harry Potter edition, it would go to auction, with all the money going to Scottish trans charities.
One of the volunteers objected to what he saw as censorship. He and I have had several arguments on various issues. So the best result is that he's resigned! Excellent. Yay!
Having raised that I volunteer at a bookshop and been surprised and encouraged by the affection shown for its actions here, it occurred to me that I should give them a shout-out.
It's the Edinburgh Community Bookshop in Leith. It supports a different local charity each month.
The bookshop isn't on Mastodon, but it is on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
But it does have a website I can share!
For anyone who likes my DJing, I've got two streams on at https://twitch.tv/airadam13 over the next few days;
- Saturday, 1800 UK time - Hip-Hop & More - the foundation show of the channel, mixing it up on a Saturday evening, and no need for you to get a taxi home 🙂
- Monday, 1900 UK time : 45 Funksters - all-45s (always hilarious with my massive hands), one-hour funk set as part of a larger raid train of DJs!
My event calendar is always @ http://events.airadam.com btw!
An alternative to Labour's cuts exists.
Polling shows the vast majority of people in Scotland back a wealth tax on the super-rich. It would be fair, popular, and long overdue.
Ok UK. Let’s boycott as many US products as possible.
Ideas:
- Proton for cloud storage, mail, password protectors, VPNs etc.
- Using non-US browsers
- Avoiding US fast-food chains, Starbucks, Coca Cola, Pepsi etc.
- Avoiding Asda, shopping at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Lidl or Aldi.
- No holidays to the US.
- Switch clothing brands
And of course, ditch Tesla.
With most tech made in the US, it’s tricky to boycott entirely. But we can make a dent.
