Hey, #legalquestions of mastodon— Can a #501c3 #nonprofit make donations mandatory for any reason? Trying to figure out if it’s not kosher or just a bit icky for a nonprofit to “require” a donation in return for use of space owned by the nonprofit. ETA: it might sound like I’m upset about being asked to donate and this is not the case; it’s phrased as a mandatory donation and is being used in a discriminatory manner.

Mastodon newbie here— When it comes to discoverability, is it better to use hashtags in the post itself, or is commenting after the fact with relevant hashtags still okay? Does the algorithm acknowledge key words at all, or is it solely reliant on hashtags?
