One of the reasons I'm so skeptical of AI getting shoved into everything is that it is not forward-looking, it's just reinforcing all of the bad systems and processes we already have. It's not just that I miss a past, pre-AI world (though I do), it's that when I think of a genuinely better future, it mostly involves ripping out the systems that AI is trying its hardest to perpetuate.

AI is not the future, it's the present, repeated endlessly.

PSA: do not use the ASMedia ASM3142 based USB ports* for (heavy) storage task on #asahilinux based systems.
There is a bug making this very unreliable: https://github.com/AsahiLinux/linux/issues/395 (caveat: so far it has just been observed with a single USB-to-SATA bridge (asm235cm)).
Investigation started by looking into an issue with the USB4 ports on M1 (t8103). It looks somewhat similar but could be unrelated.

USB-A ports on all machines except the M1 Mac mini
front USB-C ports on M1 Max and M2 Max Mac Studio
10Gb/s USB-C ports on 4 port iMac
