- % of population living in poverty
- child mortality
- average women’s educational level
- life expectancy
- standard of living for poorest 10% of population
- median leisure budget remaining after core expenses (rent, food, health, education)
- minimum wage v cost of living
- happiness index
- % population failed by social safety net
- preventable deaths
- environmental impact per population

It’s a good day (despite the cold raininess of it all) to visit the @FrontierCulture museum. I particularly liked the chimney on the English house, it reminded me of @BaconsCastle ! Top notch historic interpretation too!

On Dec 2, 1859, Abolitionist John Brown was the first American ever executed for treason. The second ever executed for treason was Aaron Dwight Stevens (March 15, 1831 – March 16, 1860).

Their crimes? Attempting to free the enslaved. The first Americans executed for treason was for the crime of freeing the enslaved.

Legality is not always a measure of justice & morality, but a measure of power. This was only two life spans ago.

May we learn from these atrocities & uphold justice forever.
