@boardgamebreakdown could be something simple as moving from one outlet to another. I don't think that turntable has an external ground wire connection. Should be internally grounded. That said, this thread here has some recommended fiddling you can do.

Can't hurt to reinstall the cartridge too. Just make sure you align it properly of course.
@boardgamebreakdown (3/3) Also, I looked closer and I don't have the exact same turntable. Mine's the AT-LP120-USB and yours is the AT-PL120. Not exactly sure what the main differences are (guessing yours doesn't have USB connction) but the questions and concepts are all the same.
