Angry leftist feminist killjoy

“absolutely nothing should be sold for a profit if its absence could kill you.”

“any modern system where people still die from lack of these resources should be dismantled"

Did I get high last night? Yes. Did I, for some poorly recalled reason, order exfoliating socks that promise to remove callouses and dead skin and returns your feet into super smooth baby feet? Also yes.
A Castle for Christmas is everything I thought it might be.
Internet evolution:
Usenet: find your people! there are a few dozen of them on rec.arts.funny!
Listservs: find your people! there are 100 of them on this obscure list devoted to Marxist cultural criticism!
Blogs: find your people! each time one of them visits your site, your counter will increment! look! it has reached four digits!
Social media: find your people! there are several million strangers who are calling you names!
Post-social media: find your people! there are several dozen of them!

"Let's get something straight. Growing old doesn't make people #conservative. In fact the more marginalized identity statuses a person has, the LESS conservative they grow over time.
The reason we equate "old" with "conservative" is that #marginalization kills people off younger.

Some of the most radical people you know are old.

It's just a lot of others died before they could get there, so there's a diminishing proportion. (2/5)

I see a lot of interesting conversations in my timeline around moderation and how to scale it and that's exciting. At the same time, I feel like a lot of it is being approached from a technical perspective and not from an political/organizing perspective.

Structures are good and necessary, but in my experience, unless your community is well-defined and there has been enough political education into the implications of the structure, there is a good chance it will be perceived as oppressive, and perceived oppression can be a real challenge to overcome because it breaks trust and highlights relationships with power.

In other words, the best way to organize is to have those one-on-one conversations and do the house visits.
