Phew! That was intense! In the last month, I tried to reconnect with people in my networks from last 25+ years. I think I know *now* when "Social Media" broke for me.

Catching up with "close" contacts I made from 2015 onwards failed. That's when things went rogue & became far too transactional vs. relational.

#FuckTheAlgorithm is the only thought I can come up with at the moment 😤 Yikes! 😡

Anyway, back to *proper* Social Media ... Hello, #Fediverse, what have I missed? 😅

The Surprising Viability of the Four-Day Workweek

"Since 2022, Schor and a team of researchers have been engaged in the largest study of the four-day workweek yet…The book reveals their findings so far: that a four-day workweek proves to be a surprisingly viable model for many organizations, with broad benefits for both employees and employers."

One other perk of using #Pixelfed is that when #Flickr goes down for an extensive period of time, like today, I can still get my daily dose of fab snap shots showing that ambient intimacy I once loved from the good old early days of Flickr itself and other social tools.

Not too sure whether Flickr has decided to start its own #Enshittification process, but I've also discovered today it's not going to be a challenge decoupling, when needed, and go all in for Pixelfed.

Bring it on!🤘🏻😍

"Gen Xers are reluctant to be corporate drones, placing more emphasis on work-life balance and autonomy"

I never really bought into the false narrative of different generations at the workplace, but, as a Gen Xer, I can relate to the quote above from this article 👉🏻 https://www.economist.com/finance-and-economics/2025/05/08/why-gen-x-is-the-real-loser-generation

The rest, not so sure 🤔

This though 👉🏻 "Next time you see a quinquagenarian, at least give them a smile"

Can I have a 🤗 instead, please? 😜

Why Gen X is the real loser generation

Don’t cry for millennials or Gen Z. Save your pity for those in their 50s

Oh, oh, did I miss anything? I haven't done any public speaking recently, but when did we start asking speakers to pay up front for a speaking slot at a face to face conference event in which speakers would even need to pay for everything on top (i.e. travel expenses, hotel, transfers, etc.)? 😳🤯

Like ... WTAF is wrong with some people? 😤😱

I am really sorry (No, not really!), but you can f*ck right off, arsehole(s)! 🤬

Oooh, and just like that, @Vivaldi has now become my favourite (= default) Web browser, after 25+ years in Opera👌🏻😍

FireFox is still lingering around in my laptop, but Vivaldi is eating that piece of the pie as well faster than I could have anticipated about two weeks ago when I started using V over O 😜

So AI comes with societal costs. Mass unemployment, water diversion from drinking and agriculture to data center cooling, energy use and carbon emissions, and even messing with truth/trust in what comes through our screens. How can society get the #AI #supplychain to absorb its #negativeexternalities? Where do you #tax? What do you fine? How does society supervise? Who regulates?
