@cbzo Oooh, I'd aim a lot higher than that, if I may, Carolina. Organisations didn't have enough with workers already working 8 to 10 hours per day that they pushed the agenda for #MobileFirst, so workers would then spend 16 to 18 hours per day 'working', as in glued to the screens, because it became rather addictive to just have such gadget attached to your hand(s) it became the worst it could have been: status, power & influence 😀

@michaelrowe01 Yeah, and I can see how that may well work for IT vendors, Mike, but then again how can an independent public speaker justify spending 9,500€ (plus expenses & time invested) just to get a 15 minute time slot to speak?

Seriously, that's just plain bonkers! 🀯😱🀬

"Gen Xers are reluctant to be corporate drones, placing more emphasis on work-life balance and autonomy"

I never really bought into the false narrative of different generations at the workplace, but, as a Gen Xer, I can relate to the quote above from this article πŸ‘‰πŸ» https://www.economist.com/finance-and-economics/2025/05/08/why-gen-x-is-the-real-loser-generation

The rest, not so sure πŸ€”

This though πŸ‘‰πŸ» "Next time you see a quinquagenarian, at least give them a smile"

Can I have a πŸ€— instead, please? 😜

Why Gen X is the real loser generation

Don’t cry for millennials or Gen Z. Save your pity for those in their 50s

@Mjhall Well, I've never used Chrome, Edge, or Safari. I've mostly been relying on FireFox and Opera and since the former is currently going through its own #Enshittification process and the latter runs on Chomium, I figured it was a good opportunity to take @Vivaldi for a spin.

So far, liking it a lot! πŸ˜…πŸ‘πŸ»

@torben LOL! And what a fun party it's been so far! πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ˜Š heh

Have you been using it for a while already?

.cc @Vivaldi

@cbzo Many thanks, Carolina, for taking the time to share those follow-up responses πŸ™πŸ»πŸ˜Š Can relate to plenty of what you wrote, except with the exception I no longer use my mobile phone for work, so been deleting a bunch of Apps and that list keeps growing more and more by the day.

So far, I don't have any App I'd deem of mandatory use, so that helps as well, I guess.

Interestingly enough, as a result of the harsh lock-downs in 2020, I'm starting to think we've been framed with #MobileFirst

Oh, oh, did I miss anything? I haven't done any public speaking recently, but when did we start asking speakers to pay up front for a speaking slot at a face to face conference event in which speakers would even need to pay for everything on top (i.e. travel expenses, hotel, transfers, etc.)? 😳🀯

Like ... WTAF is wrong with some people? 😀😱

I am really sorry (No, not really!), but you can f*ck right off, arsehole(s)! 🀬

Oooh, and just like that, @Vivaldi has now become my favourite (= default) Web browser, after 25+ years in OperaπŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ˜

FireFox is still lingering around in my laptop, but Vivaldi is eating that piece of the pie as well faster than I could have anticipated about two weeks ago when I started using V over O 😜

So AI comes with societal costs. Mass unemployment, water diversion from drinking and agriculture to data center cooling, energy use and carbon emissions, and even messing with truth/trust in what comes through our screens. How can society get the #AI #supplychain to absorb its #negativeexternalities? Where do you #tax? What do you fine? How does society supervise? Who regulates?
