US #Senate #Democrats, including Majority Leader Chuck #Schumer , joined with Republicans to call for repeal of pandemic public health emergency in the US, which will hurt ordinary Americans, but is a nice piece of empty political symbolism for our craven leaders. If you download your #Twitter archive it arrives wrapped as a static HTML page, which is not very useful for doing anything with, and worse: it requires the original account to be still active to do useful things like enlarge the images since they use t.co links.

So here's a #Python script to convert a Twitter archive to #markdown or other formats: https://github.com/timhutton/twitter-archive-parser

Now you can archive your tweets in any way you want.

and I have been hard at work for the past week putting together a Mastodon instance so that we can create a backup disability and chronic illness community.

For now, we have set up a terms of service, privacy policy, rules and best practices.

I have plans to set up a Twitter space to go through each of these with the disability community directly to add/subtract/reword things.

Some general 'best practices' for new Masto users! :mastoart: As our rules state, any art that's adult/NSFW/sexual/violent etc. in nature needs to be hidden behind a content warning (the 'CW' button beneath the toot window) or with the media marked as sensitive (you'll see this option after adding media to your toot). It's not enough to just hide the media, though - you have to say *why* it's content warned, otherwise users can't make an informed decision on whether to click or not. (cont)
