Deze week ben ik gestart als staatssecretaris Digitale Economie en Soevereiniteit. Een belangrijke taak, met voor het eerst alle digitale onderwerpen in één portefeuille.
Dat is harder nodig dan ooit. Digitalisering en AI zijn onmisbaar voor innovatie, economische groei, veiligheid en onze welvaart. Nederland en Europa moeten koploper worden in de digitale wereld, met een sterke en onafhankelijke techsector.
We've preliminary found that TikTok is in breach of the DSA for its addictive design.
There are important indicators of compulsive use of the app that TikTok has disregarded in its risk assessment.
Key features of the addictive design:
🔹Infinite scroll
🔹Autoplay
🔹Push notifications
🔹Highly personalised recommender system
We consider that TikTok needs to change the basic design of its service.
TikTok can now exercise its right to examine and reply to the finding.
We need to stop making "phone app-only" services a thing.
If I can only book tickets by downloading your app and not on a normal web browser from a regular PC, I hate you.
In 2025, Big Tech—just ten major companies—spent €49 million lobbying Brussels. That’s more than pharma, finance, and automotive combined.
Google funds all sixteen major European think tanks shaping EU policy. Not *some* of them. All of them. Amazon and Meta fund most of the rest.
This is no longer “poor old me, I need a bit of help,” this is full regulatory capture. With a view to becoming even more embedded into businesses and governments, and getting whatever favorable legislation passed or diluted to suit them.
