I think the Apes are more 'People' than Donald Trump is...
While the hateful neonazi conservative politicians are busy canceling minority rights, the law is busy granting rights to rivers and animals. Supporting Indigenous legal battles and self-governance appears to be an effective resistance strategy.

Hospitals in Gaza have turned into tents and caravans. Sadly, they lack proper medical care and doctors, as many have been killed by Israel.
Our sick and wounded are left without help, and the suffering grows every day. ๐

@olivia It makes me especially sick that it happens in times, when we should discuss the legal #personhood of #nature: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_personhood and listen much more to ideas and thoughts of indigenous people about nature (including pebbles and rocks).
This is becoming increasingly important for survival. Instead, we grant empty algorithms more #life than living #ecosystems!

We should give Chimps the technology of 'bags' so they can carry their precious gems in. ๐
Humans will try to exploit this gem collecting behaviour, watch out for us ๐

Fascinating new behavioral research reveals that wild chimpanzees have developed a mysterious affinity for collecting and hoarding shiny crystals, blurring the evolutionary lines between human aesthetics and animal cognition.
A quotation from Wendell Berry
The folly at the root of this foolish economy began with the idea that a corporation should be regarded, legally, as โa person.โ But the limitless destructiveness of this economy comes about precisely because a corporation is not a person. A corporation, essentially, is a pile of money to which a number of persons have sold their moral allegiance. Unlike a person, a corporation does not age. It does not arrive, as most persons finally do, at a realization of the shortness and smallness of human lives; it does not come to see the future as the lifetime of the children and grandchildren of anybody in particular.Wendell Berry (b. 1934) American farmer, educator, poet, conservationist

Thinking about โcivicmindednessโ:
thinking and acting beyond your private life and work. Protesting, volunteering, participating in local politics, etc.
How some people have it and others donโt. How our whole Western individualist value system (more so now than even 30 years ago) works to erode it, but how important it actually is, in a deep, psychological way even. We are all part of communities and need to feel it.
