Over the past three months, I've spent close to 50 hours on the phone with #BlueCrossBlueShield, my #doctor, and an #urgentcare clinic I saw ONE TIME trying to get them to pay for my #healthcare. (Very simple office visits, mind!) Finally TODAY I reach a #customerservice rep who is able to figure out what the hell is wrong and process my claims. If I didn't already work in healthcare and know where to start digging to get my healthcare paid for, I would have been out almost $2,000 for basic preventative healthcare.

Now picture someone who DOESN'T work in healthcare, living just above the #poverty benefits line, with sub-par #healthinsurance because their state didn't expand #Medicare coverage under the #AffordableCareAct like the monsters the #GOP has proven themselves to be time and time again. They have neither the time nor the knowledge needed to navigate this absolute #capitalisthellscape.

This #bullshit is why we need #MedicareForAll YESTERDAY.

It's the widespread disregard for the third-degree risks of COVID that concerns me. Even if WE don't get sick and aren't the superspreader in our family or workgroup, we should still care about being part of the larger solution that keeps everyone safe. Few seem to have that sense of empathy or responsibility. We're like friends leaving a bar drunk, each getting behind the wheel--if one of us kills someone, don't we all bear responsibility for not being part of encouraging safer decisions?

FYI: #PAX is dropping its #COVID19 vaccination requirement for attendance effective #PAXEast 2023. If you're even tangentally in contact with a high-risk group, it may be time to reconsider attending. I'll not be #PAXEnforcing for the first time in 12 years. I work in #oncology; the risk is just too high.
