I found out that I get a better user experience if I refresh my browser window instead of just clicking "Home" in the same old tab.
I don’t get why everyone is making a big deal about Spring today. In Atlanta we’ve had like 4 of them this winter.
I am very much enjoying this podcast by two drummers. The guests aren't all drummers, but I recognize a lot of them. The hosts are iconic.
I'm not a drummer, but I wannabe one.

August De Morgan pointed out what we call "De Morgan's laws":

not(A or B) = not(A) and not(B)
not(A and B) = not(A) or not(B)

He also introduced the term "mathematical induction".

But he had a cautious attitude toward negative numbers!

New music: "Spooky Nonsense" EP out today!

Mildly spooky instrumentals by me. Amy C. did the cover art, and Julia C. helped pick the tracks.

There's no record label here---Please boost this announcement. 🙂

Last year, I learned a lot about mixing. Can you hear a difference between this and the old stuff?

Margaret Atwood responds to the banning of "The Handmaid's Tale" from a high school library.

"How dare I question the school board’s motives? I do dare. After all, it has questioned mine."

Who’s Afraid of The Handmaid’s Tale?

To those who seek to stop young people from reading The Handmaid’s Tale: Good luck with that. It’ll only make them want to read it more.

About halfway through this video, we get a great discussion of how casual takes on Popper can make us too generous in what we call "scientific." Not saying I'm qualified to comment on her motivating examples (in particle physics) but...
In these days where truth and expertise are often scorned by demagogues, I'm glad this discussion is getting attention. By making science better, we make it harder to marginalize.

What's Going Wrong in Particle Physics? (This is why I lost faith in science.)
