This is Mastodon and this is why it rocks!
My final gadgetbahn stop for today, I have climbed a bazillion steps and tiptoed my way around a literal tonne of goose shit (and geese) to get photos of all that remains of the Merry Hill monorail - a station on top of Marks and Spencer.
I should have a plaque on my desk that says "whenever you say something happened 'ten years ago' double-check that it didn't really happen in 1997"

Ok, I might stop after this one:

The new Pope has a degree in mathematics from Villanova University. This guy doesn’t just understand sin. He understands cos.

The existence of a Chicago Pope implies the existence of an M.L.A. Pope and an A.P.A. Pope. #ManualeStyliHabemus
I can’t explain why listening to a baseball game on the radio instead of watching on TV is much more fulfilling but it is
my dad about to tell a funny story that isn’t nearly as funny as he thinks it is

Another rewatch of Honor Among Thieves
Another feeling that this group needs to be together again.

New things I noticed
- Aq Inc Grey Team is one of the groups in the High Sun Games
- the two rich lords talk about eating Displacer Beast but "it's too gamey"
- Centering a middle aged dude with his grey beard feels more important today than two years ago

Wired magazine is making big US news orgs look stupid and incompetent. Wired understands what's at stake in the Musk-led database/payment systems takeovers -- and it's doing the reporting to tell the public what's going on. Example:

Reuters is also seriously on the case.

The Young, Inexperienced Engineers Aiding Elon Musk’s Government Takeover

Engineers between 19 and 24, most linked to Musk’s companies, are playing a key role as he seizes control of federal infrastructure.
