In the spirit of never knowing what you can do until you try, I ran a half marathon this past Saturday injured.

I had injured my foot a few weeks ago and was just nursing it along. But then I exacerbated it last Thursday during a short run.

I have a sweet bruise on the arch of my foot, and it hurt every step of the race. It was more like an ache on each foot strike.

But I ran the race, which included pizza, beer, and bourbon at the end. So it was worth it.

Eight miles today. Great weather, and I remembered to eat a small breakfast of a hard boiled egg and a ½ banana. Love this time of year for running ❀️

Peach-picking season. Gloriously beautiful weather yesterday. A great way to spend time with family
Finished the Kentucky Derby Festival miniMarathon (a half marathon) on Saturday. Ran with my niece, who signed up like three days before. We talked the whole way and enjoyed the city scenery including Churchill Downs. #running #louisville #halfmarahon #kentuckyderby

Happy with my finish time yesterday in the Louisville 10 Mile race, last leg of the Louisville Triple Crown of Running, a warmup to celebrating the Kentucky Derby (Run for the Roses).

In a month, it will be time for the Derby Half Marathon.

I’m so happy to have family join the races that I’ve been running for decades. #running #10K #louisville #triplecrownofrunning #DerbyCity10K
Whiskey Row 5Kβ€”first leg of the Louisville Triple Crown of Runningβ€”in the books. β˜€οΈ and clear to counter the cold and wind. Happy with the results and the donut and beer at the finish. Another family affair πŸ€—

Two of the best things about this last half marathon: bourbon at the end and my son ran it too. #running #urbanbourbonhalf #bourbon
Managed a bit of hiking yesterday on the Rainbow Falls Trail in Great Smoky Mountains NP. My son-in-law fly-fished for brookies

Finished my second marathon ever yesterday. The first was 19 years ago. No land speed records were broken, but I finished without injury. So that’s a win in my book! #running #kyderbyfestival #marathon
