Beignet is a male and weighs 14 pounds. The females I know all weigh around 8 pounds. I pick him up and carry him around frequently. I wouldn't want to hold him for long periods of time though! He's big enough that hawks and other predatory birds leave him alone, but small enough I can carry him as needed.
Hope your little girl is as wonderful as my boys and meets all your needs!

And now I have him tethered outside the PetFoodExpress while we wait for it to open.
