Somehow I’ve never run across lldp before, but it sure is nice for my homelab’s Juniper switch to be able to tell me which port of which Unifi gear it’s plugged into and what the device name is on which host for Linux /Mac.

On-Air: Connected - Relay

Connected is a weekly panel discussion on Apple and the impact of technology on our lives. With each co-host having a unique background — and accent — Connected provides a perspective that no other show can.

Relay

Not that anyone cares *when* I did this, but I made this 15 days ago.

It doesn’t seem hard to me to do this.

As a person who used to make app icons at Apple, I don’t think the situation is that the designer doesn’t know, but rather the decision maker who is supposed to have taste doesn’t know. (If this person isn’t Alan Dye, then that’s even more embarrassing for him that he’s not the person making that call.)

Also, slightly purpler is better. More Mac, less Mail / Safari like I said before.

Rolling the ladder up behind us

Who will take over for us if we don't train the next generation to replace us? A critique of craft, AI, and the legacy of human expertise.

Brutal.

⚖️ Gjovik v Apple Update: NLRB just formally served Apple the final compliance packet. Apple must submit proof of posting to the NLRB by 4/28. The final documents include: the settlement agreement; compliance instructions; & posting obligations.

The official notice, which Apple is legally required to post internally and publicly, affirms:
💪 Employees may discuss wages, hours, conditions.
💪 Apple may not use its policies to silence or surveil.
💪 Apple is rescinded multiple unlawful policies.🧵⬇️

@caseyliss @atpfm I really want you to be wrong about ‘77 but if I take away the nostalgia I have to admit I agree with you. I still like it better but it’s the old “best vs favorite” distinction.

@marcoarment when you use Dante make sure you're not going through any switches that have EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) enabled. It's one of the few gotchas with a simple Dante setup. Luckily Ubiquiti gear does not use EEE so if you replaced all old switches you should be good.

Feel free to hit me up for Dante questions. I use it a lot for live theater audio, with a Unifi network backing it.

@caseyliss I’ve got a regular AWD EV6, not the GT and it’s pretty darn quick. Give it a try, I think you might be pleasantly surprised (and it has better range than the GT too)
