@ironicbadger All good. It seems like nice functionality, just not something I’m going to rely on for my home lab usage if I don’t know exactly how the grandfathering will work (for instance, being able to add new hosts and services after the beta period, since I don’t want to maintain multiple service routing systems). In a corporate environment I’d have no objection to paying for it
@ironicbadger @caseyliss The email I quoted didn’t say that. Screenshot attached:
@caseyliss it looks very nice but the “During our open beta period, we won’t be charging customers or capping usage” makes me very nervous to rely on it.
@chockenberry unfortunately not. I gave up and stopped using the TestFlight version on Mac.

What’s next, finally allowing us to add a song to the Music library from the Files app?
Somehow I’ve never run across lldp before, but it sure is nice for my homelab’s Juniper switch to be able to tell me which port of which Unifi gear it’s plugged into and what the device name is on which host for Linux /Mac.

On-Air: Connected - Relay

Connected is a weekly panel discussion on Apple and the impact of technology on our lives. With each co-host having a unique background — and accent — Connected provides a perspective that no other show can.

Relay

Not that anyone cares *when* I did this, but I made this 15 days ago.

It doesn’t seem hard to me to do this.

As a person who used to make app icons at Apple, I don’t think the situation is that the designer doesn’t know, but rather the decision maker who is supposed to have taste doesn’t know. (If this person isn’t Alan Dye, then that’s even more embarrassing for him that he’s not the person making that call.)

Also, slightly purpler is better. More Mac, less Mail / Safari like I said before.

Rolling the ladder up behind us

Who will take over for us if we don't train the next generation to replace us? A critique of craft, AI, and the legacy of human expertise.
