Interesting observation from a new member of our team, their mentor is focused on client success, where as I'm focused on delivery/development.

They say it's like one of us is a Sith and the other is a Jedi.

I didn't offer an opinion to complete the triad.

Gather.town are deprecating their free/value tiers and replacing them with services that cost more than Slack/Google Workspace.

I feel this is the end.

It's cute, but not worth it - another case where someone has tried to wedge AI into it and realised their upstream costs balloon.

We found this in the virtual office.

After being harassed by Google Workspace to constantly 'upgrade' with notifications masking as "Security Improvements", their support team told me to switch to scheduled release, and the notifications are gone. Posting it here in case it helps one other person save those 50px at the top of every doc and sheet.

Reminds me of the days of browser toolbar add-ons getting out of control.

People will be working at “Peak Stupid” for longer relying on statistical regurgitation and the decent down to the “Valley of Despair” much more of a career ending event than the managed thump it currently is.

With all the cover-ups and re-writing of history, maybe #Oracle should have come to my Kobayashi Maru workshop instead of desperately to hide the evidence.

Not entirely sure Mario Kart is a work related activity, but it looks like the https://vifintech.com development team is having fun at #phpuk25 #phpuk

Used the emergency loud-hailer in https://gather.town to play Wham: Last Christmas.

I think it's acceptable <7d to go.

Gather | Virtual Workspace for Remote Teams

Bring your remote team closer together. Communicate, collaborate, and feel more connected in a persistent space that reflects your unique team culture.

An existing client introduces me to an upstart adjacent supplier, have the introductory meeting, and spot all the things not considered.

I was going to say I remember the time when software was "fun", but it wasn't, I was once just as wide-eyed as them and thought it was all about code.

Now, I realise it's 25% code, the rest is apportioning liability, tests, scoping, regulations, privacy, security, maintenance, reliability, protection against domestic/financial abuse, API stability guarantees.

I can reject my personal info being shared with 1400 other companies or pay £2.

Yeah I didn't want it that much. Wonder how long until all the reject cookie consent buttons are monitised by default.
