Remembering why I don’t do airbnbs anymore. Just checked into an absolute shithole of a home with no time to deal with refunds, new olaces, etc. sigh
Today wraps a 30 year undergraduate adventure. Earned a BA in Yoga woth a minor in religion. And just started working as director of community at one of the largest tech firms in web3. Im so grateful and overwhelmed. Ending my journey today, a little pre ceremony yoga and espresso—how this whole adventure started.

The only people at the Washington Post who are allowed to consistently explain what a threat democracy faces from Trump (and DeSantis et al) are the commentators.

Here's one of them, essentially begging his colleagues (and the rest of Big Journalism) to do their effing jobs. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/05/09/trump-2024-cnn-town-hall-media-coverage/

How the media can cover Trump better this time

CNN and the news media have to cover Trump's 2024 campaign. The key thing is to cover him smartly — and to avoid the mistakes that were made from 2015 to 2021.

The Washington Post
"No, it is not #CNN’s job to make 'a LOT of news.' In fact, if you’re working at a news organization and you find yourself making news rather than reporting news, then you are not doing #journalism. You might be a propagandist. You might be an entertainer. You might be a partisan. But you certainly are not a journalist when you are making news." Always read @parkermolloy

The Head of CNN Thinks It's Journalism's Job to "Make News." That's a Problem.

Chris Licht's Trump-a-palooza event on Wednesday debased the very concept of journalism, striking a critical blow to the network's credibility. What's more: it won't win him any new viewers.

The Present Age
Due to the U.S.A.'s mass-shooting frequency, Canada, the U.K., New Zealand, and Australia have issued travel advisory warnings.

This is probably the best thing I ever posted on Twitter. The memory is pretty dear to me; I'm sharing it here so it still exists somewhere if that place collapses.
Hmm... If you're wondering how it's going on the #Birdsite NPR: "Elon Musk threatens to re-assign @NPR on #Twitter to 'another company'" https://www.npr.org/2023/05/02/1173422311/elon-musk-npr-twitter-reassign
Absolute gold. 🏅 My kids think this already.

Oh nice. Seattle Public Library has created a membership type for "13 to 26 year olds anywhere in the US" to be able to sign out e and audiobooks as a response to those locales banning books...

The problem with “…faking authenticity” and how #FoxNews fell into the trap of letting their audience shape the tone and content of their news coverage. A mistake that has already cost them almost $800 million with more lawsuits to come. Rupert Murdoch and his family have been a dangerous influence in every country where they’ve owned media outlets; including Australia, the UK and the USA. Their ‘cater to the populist crazies’ at the expense of facts and the truth approach has sullied proper professional journalism, divided three countries, sowed division and hatred, all while making tons of profit and laughing all the way to the bank. Disgusting and reprehensible. #journalism #news #CableNews #Cable #populism #tuckercarlson #lies #propaganda https://theconversation.com/tucker-carlsons-departure-and-fox-news-expensive-legal-woes-show-the-problem-with-faking-authenticity-203649
Tucker Carlson's departure and Fox News' expensive legal woes show the problem with faking 'authenticity'

Tucker Carlson and his employer, Fox News, had an incredible understanding of what their audience wants: a kind of authenticity that is not genuine but instead manipulative.
