Schumer is the representative of the interests of the Democrats in the Senate, so on ethical issues he’s most comparable to a police union rep or something — his job is to defend the indefensible because his members want it defended. Basically no non-Senator is on his side and that’s maybe how it has to be?

Why are lawyers who practice before particular judges not regarded in the press as biased sources about those judges? Like this article: https://apple.news/APFyl_dVgQN2BNCFXjxWWBQ which is fairly summarized as “People professionally interested in currying favor with Eileen Cannon think she’s a stand-up judge except the one anonymous guy who says she’s a nut”? What the actual heck?

@mimsical Vagueness is not really the problem here; if the laws were better-drafted they would still ban teaching about race in ways conservative elites oppose. The people who made these laws did not err — “redlining happened and has bad systemic consequences for Black people today” is the exact thing they wanted to ban teaching.
