It’s December! Has anyone else begun thinking about wines for Christmas? I’m looking forward to drinking this.

Hi. It would help me a lot if I could get a HEAP of responses to this poll. The goal is to get a decent enough sample so results are predictive of the wider user-base right now. I dislike asking for boosts but this is SCIENCE... or something. (Thanks.)

How do you use Mastodon MOST of the time?

On a phone, or other touch screen device?

OR

On a device with a keyboard like a laptop or desktop computer?

Doing a quick store cupboard stock-take in advance of making a Christmas cake has revealed that I have about 9 years’ worth of sultanas, half of which is three years past its best before date. I need to find more uses for dried fruit.
Central London was absolutely packed yesterday, busier than I have seen it for years. But my frustration at every single restaurant being booked out at 6pm was massively tempered by the knowledge of what a tough time the industry in general is having.

So #wine folks and #WineWriters I wrote a piece about a woman who intersects wine making, saving indigenous food, Russian imperialism/occupation, and tourism to address sexism in the #WineIndustry and specially #femicide in her community. Seems wild, I know, but I can't find a home for it. If any editors are interested, let me know. I would post on my blog BUT I think her story deserves a wider audience than I currently have. I have articles in The Feiring Line, Fodor's, Wine Guild, Pipette, Thrillist, USA Today, Romeing, The Drop, etc. #winelover #WineCommunication #WomenWhoWine

This place is not just mastodon social and online, and if you all stay there, you're going to end up trying to rebuild twitter, in an even less accountable way. Form communities. Help out. Move instance. Pay your admin team hosting and admin/mod costs. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch, and what's happening to twitter is proving that. We were the product, it wasn't for us, it was to use us.

Have you ever seen an oak tree dance?

Britain is full of 'lost' rainforests, predominantly in the southwest and northwest of England, western/northwestern parts of Wales and the west coast of Scotland. There are other areas where the conditions are perfect too, like this one in the Peak District National Park.

When the rain starts and the cloud base drops into the rainforest, the trees come alive. Everywhere you look, there is magic and mystery.

This is a blast from the past. I was the first UK importer of Ten Minutes By Tractor 15 years ago and my former employer Bancroft is still bringing their wines in. Generous, earthy nose and a beautifully precise, pure, refined palate. Really good wine and very clever branding.
