I just deleted my Twitter account.

I saw a viral pro-H*tler tweet on my timeline with 66,000 likes and 9.5 million views. That was enough for me to ensure my posts don’t contribute any value to that garbage dump.

If I’d suggested telling America that Bob Dole liked dogs and ice cream and cool cars and wore aviators my boss woulda thrown a stapler at my head

Was in a focus group yesterday with swing/noncollege women under 30. Tons of cynicism, anti-government, anti-everything, both sides, all politicians are crooks, etcetc.

Then came across this in an old deck -

"The people in Washington don't understand places like this. People like us, they're suffering while people in Washington are making profits. I think they're looking up for themselves and that's it.”

and it’s a DEM ad!! We just need to stop punching ourselves.

Hey, if you're in Washington state, please call Senator Cantwell's office. According to this article (paywall-free link), Cantwell is one of the people pushing hardest for KOSA, which Republicans have admitted will be used to drive LGBTQIA+ content off the internet. (Everyone else, also please call your Senators!)

Privacy debate takes center stage in kids’ online safety legislation

A Senate panel advanced two bills on Thursday, but they’ve gotten pushback from privacy advocates.

The Washington Post

At least three groups — "Fridays for Future", "Fight Fossil Fuels", and "End Fossil Fuels USA" — are joining together to organize mass climate protests and strikes in September.

Here is part of their message...
__________________________

Our world is in crisis. Extreme weather caused by the climate emergency is wreaking havoc in our communities and ecosystems across the globe, causing social insecurity and harm to people.

The biggest cause of this crisis is fossil fuels — coal, oil, and gas.

The fossil fuel industry is driving a predatory and destructive economic system that harms people and the planet, fuelling climate break down.

Fossil fuels are bad for the climate, for ecosystems, for our people, for our health, for our democracies, and for our economies.

The science is clear: what the world needs now is a rapid and just transition to an energy and economic system that is efficient, fair, and universal. A system based on clean energy sources and produced with respect for nature and the sovereign rights of Indigenous peoples.

This September, as world leaders discuss climate action at the United Nations in New York, people on every continent will join the largest-ever globally coordinated action and together WE WILL end fossil fuels.

The climate crisis is escalating but so is the global movement for climate justice. We need all hands on deck to win this fight.

Global Fight to End Fossil Fuels – September 2023

This September, people on every continent will join the largest-ever globally coordinated action to demand that governments end fossil fuels. Join us.

Global Fight to End Fossil Fuels

They've spent $1B/yr trying to convince people to be economically conservative and only got it to 61-39. And this is with VERY friendly question wording.

Right wing donors should ask for a refund of their money.

@AlexSanterne l'd feel a lot better about this if the tobacco industry didn't exist anymore. Still, it's damning evidence that they did this with full awareness of the consequences, just like the tobacco companies.
@AlexSanterne we did a whole video on this a while back (so YT only, not on PeerTube) https://youtu.be/yO7KviuUh0Y
Climate Change Debate is Toxic: Let's listen to the oil companies.

YouTube
@AlexSanterne they cared. They dumped a ton of money into lies. They created whole departments just to propagate lies. That's caring. Just not the caring any sane human would want.
@AlexSanterne What jumps out at me is that
their projections are a little bit
WORSE
than the observations
so from their perspective
fossil fools could see this
as a win
"We looked at the projections
& actually bent the curve down
at least a little."

@AlexSanterne

It's not the crime, it's the cover up.

Oil billionaires are facing a future onslaught of class action lawsuits, just like Big Tobacco.

No matter how many Republicans they buy.
No matter how many Supreme Court Justices they corrupt.
No matter how many congressional election deniers they fund.
No matter how they subvert elections with Putin.
No matter how many coups they orchestrate.

@AlexSanterne And this is exactly why all present and past #ExxonMobil executives should be arrested and prosecuted by a new #Nuremberg process for #ClimateGenocide.

Climate Change as Crime

Is consciously contributing to climate change tantamount to genocide? I think it is.

The Fool on the Hill
@AlexSanterne I wouldn't be surprised if the small discrepancies we're seeing are due to the very limited effort that has gone into reducing emissions in the last decades, which ultimately is even more damning because it would imply that if these hadn't been curbed by corporate interests we could have done so much better.
@AlexSanterne this only looks to go up to 2019 ish?
@AlexSanterne btw I have discovered that there are lot of hashtags that are being suppressed on the bird site. #Exxonknew is one of them. The others relate to Shell and also Ecocide. By suppressed, I mean that when you go to post and write the hashtag, none of these hashtags appear in the drop down menu of options to pick. Something dodgy going on with the algorithms there I swear.

@AlexSanterne

I remember the chart well, and news of the discovery of the chart.
From that day forward, I became obsessed with knowing WHO PAID for studies (and the interpretation of its results)

@AlexSanterne rip their asses open in trails 😒

@AlexSanterne And they are still making record profits at the world's expense. Thank you for posting.

@AlexSanterne Let's not forget that the fossil fuel companies keep digging up fossil fuels because WE keep asking for it. It would be hypocritical to solely blame the fossil fuel companies for fulfilling a demand that we keep creating, by wanting to fly and drive everywhere, go on wasteful holidays, throw away a quarter of our food, cool and heat our badly insulated homes, use things made of plastic, etc. etc.. The change has to come from us; our actions and who we vote for.

@AlexSanterne

> “Did they care ? Obviously no !”

On the contrary:

I think this fits perfectly within the
“tear it down, in order to build it better”
mindset.

I don’t think this was simple greed.

Didn’t it come out that at least 20 years ago,
various dark-groups
had been building ginormous underground-cities
?

Please, if anyone has a source on this, LMK.
