Everything’s everywhere. It’s way too much & it’s all the time. ☯️

I wouldn’t eat these if I— well, that’s silly. Of course I’d eat one – they’re just out of the oven. Waiting is. 😋 Banana Persimmon Muffins with chocolate chips. (Persimmons freshly picked)

Princess Buttercup, all tuckered out after her 2.5 hour spa (grooming) appointment this morning. It’s exhausting being beautiful. 🐾🖤🐾

When I read the headlines
I tell myself
that we must not
grow accustomed
to mass death
and then I notice
that absent
from the headlines
are the plague’s victims
and I remember
that we have already
grown accustomed
to mass death.

You might have seen somebody using the proverb Vox Populi, Vox Dei. What was missing was the context in which it was used:

Nec audiendi qui solent dicere, Vox populi, vox Dei, quum tumultuositas vulgi semper insaniae proxima sit.

In case you do not speak Latin, it means in English:

And those people should not be listened to who keep saying the voice of the people is the voice of God since the riotousness of the crowd is always very close to madness.

A single 400-year-old ancient oak produces 234,000 litres of oxygen a year while soaking up carbon dioxide, and can support more than 2,000 species of bird, insect, fungus, and lichen. Nature is amazing - we need more of it, not less.
Think the main difference between the two platforms is that on Twitter when you make a joke you get one haha and two death threats, whereas on here you get one haha and someone earnestly explaining the 6th century origins of the specific road that particular chicken crossed. Yet to decide which is more distressing.

I love when I can get a heron to fill the frame. My #nikon AF-S 300/4 continually punches above its weight.

I haz a BIG bone.

A reminder that Twitter was not made as you see it today. At the start it was literally an SMS frontend. It didn't have concepts like threads, DMs, groups, privacy (ha!), blocking, muting or any of that crap. ALL THAT GREW ORGANICALLY - at first just as conventions, later adopted.

We will figure out how to use Mastodon. And some of those ways will be adopted officially (whatever that means!). This is our place. We'll shape it. Give it time.
