This is HUGE.

"The National Labor Relations Board ruled Tuesday that employers can no longer demand laid-off employees avoid publicly disparaging the company as part of their severance agreements, nor can they stop affected employees from disclosing the terms of their exit packages. Doing so, the federal agency determined, would be a violation of the laid-off employees’ rights under the National Labor Relations Act."

Companies Can’t Ask You to Shut up to Receive Severance, NLRB Rules

The board reverses two previous decisions that held that such severance agreements were lawful. Limits on free speech have become increasingly common aspect of many severance agreements.

Did the NYT really publish an Opinion speculating that young girls today are more depressed than ever because of _phones_?

In a world where they lost the right to control their own reproductive healthcare? Where states are pondering making them report their periods? In a world debating genital inspections to play school sports? While banning books? Where they practice school shooting drills? With climate change? Where sexual assault isn’t disqualifying for public office?

Sure, it’s the phones.

If a site asks you to mark or tag your art with "NoAI" or whatever to indicate it shouldn't be used for AI ingestion, don't do it.

Don't create the expectation that anything unmarked is OK to use in a model's data set. The AI art shitheads want to change the default copyright stance.

If you mark some of your stuff as "NoAI," you might be limiting your options for collecting damages from unlicensed use of your work.

I'm not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice, but it's what I'm doing.

I think about this a lot. Every game is a miracle. #GameDev

Pretty sure I could recreate an entire 90’s startup with everything I pulled from this house.

There’s just so much media, in different formats (Floppy, Tape, CD), for different platforms (PC, Mac, Amiga), with source-code, binaries, betas, releases over roughly a decade. With all the drives and auto-loaders found in random bins, I’m pretty sure I can read everything… …except DC300A…

I now have like 10 DC300A tapes, and somehow I still don’t have a drive… I found drives for almost every Ditto format in this house, but no Ditto carts anywhere. I now have 9 more DC300A tapes… and there still wasn’t a reader.

It’s Beans!
If you want to know why the far right has been so successful, it's because they pick targets they know the opposition won't rush to defend, especially cis white male liberals and leftists, and gradually grow that wedge until they have total control over our lives.

I called the #NewYorkTimes and cancelled my subscription this morning--I have a #nonbinary child. I told the very nice lady I spoke to why I was cancelling, and asked her to pass on to management that they were putting kids like mine in danger. She said she would pass that along, then offered me the editorial department's phone number so that I could also call them and let them know why I'd cancelled.

I did indeed call & leave a message. The number is 212-556-3652.
