This is the way.

A high school freshman track athlete took second place behind a trans athlete, and a Republican leader used the situation to push hateful propaganda. The girl responds:

"I don't feel like first place was taken from me. Instead, I feel like a happy day was turned ugly by a bully who is using children to make political points... No one was harmed by Soren’s participation in the girls’ track meet, but we are all harmed by the hateful rhetoric of bullies, like Rep. Libby."

@AngelaPreston @DeliaChristina I can only speak for the university I know, not Columbia, but almost the entirety of our endowment is made up of directed giving. So it supports useful things, like specific research areas, or student financial aid, but it is not available to be repurposed to things not enumerated by the donor. It is an impressive pile of money, but it's not a panacea.

At the start of COVID, we all learned how to beat airborne viruses like the flu: by wearing masks and staying home when we are sick. It's a real shame we haven't translated those important lessons into long-term behavioral change.
