First full day using my new M5 MacBook Pro. It took me a while to figure out a few things and muscle memory for my ThinkPad keyboard is going to take some unlearning. The screen/display is lovely and the battery life is truly impressive. Spotlight and Shortcuts are also very good. I've managed to get my dev environment set-up and tomorrow I can get back to coding. I've not needed to open my Linux laptop at all today.
Got myself a new 14 inch MacBook Pro with M5 processor. It's been a while since I've used a MBP, but first impressions are very good. I looked at lots of hardware before making the purchase, including a ThinkPad X1 Carbon 13th gen, but ultimately the MBP came out on top. Anyhow, currently attempting to set-up my dev environment and tools.
Finished reading The Lion: Son Of The Forest by Mike Brooks. I've not read a Space Marine novel for a while and it made a nice change from the Astra Militarum books I've been reading of late. Mike Brooks is one of my favourite authors, his writing style just clicks with my brain and I find his books hard to put down.
#PHP is dead... or is it?
Cloudflare Radar looked at top 5000 domains and determined that is a lie 😆
PHP is the top programming language. A hard, but necessary, pill to swallow for all the Go-Rust-JS-etc bros. PHP will probably outlive most of us.
I have a new physical Memento Mori for my work desk. If anyone asks about it, I'm going to say it's a reminder of the ultimate deadline.
Yet Another Zombie Survivors is a lot of fun on the Steam Deck!
Finished reading Siege of Vraks - A Death Korps Novel by Steve Lyons. It was a good read, but I think I enjoyed Krieg a little more. The story follows several characters through numerous battles in the multi-year siege of Vraks. There are strong Nazi "cult of death" vibes in this book.
Testing Fedora 43 on an Asus Zenbook 14 (UM3406KA_UM3406KA). Hardware wise, everything seems to be working just fine and the OLED screen is bloody gorgeous. It's been a long time since I've considered anything other than a ThinkPad, but this Zenbook (with more RAM) could be a contender.
