One of the reasons I went to work for #PBS was a deep commitment to teaching which is something I care deeply about.

I’m very disappointed in rescinding the already congressionally approved funding. We’ve already had to lay off folks and more will follow with possible stations closing. Thank you to everyone who contacted your congresspeople supporting PBS

It's a weird feeling to find yourself at work one day, running https://www.pbs.org waiting for Congress to vote on affecting your own life so closely and personally. #PBS

If you’re wondering, the transition music has been by the fantastic Maribou State #WWDC25
I was just reading about Bill Atkinson passing away. The stories about him from “Revolution in the Valley” and his code for QuickDraw are a huge inspiration for me. One of my favorite videos is Steve Jobs running into him and Andy Hertzfeld at the iPhone launch. It’s nice to see old buddies just hanging out supporting each other: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gh0VNUwhSLM

Random #thoughoftheday:

When it comes to metric vs imperial unit, I never hear about how metric numbers aren’t highly composite. 12, 60, 360 are even “superior” highly composite number. They’re way more useful in “real world” uses because they can divide evenly in more ways.

That said, any imperial unit that isn’t a highly composite number is silly (looking at you 3 feet/yard, 1760 yards/miles, 16 oz/lb and almost all imperial fluid units)

Finally, I prefer baking in grams and milliliters

@marcoarment I love the restaurant tech segment. I will also defend Wago wire nuts, they’ve become my go-to connector and are fantastic. To put your mind at ease, here’s a video stress testing them showing how well they hold up in different cases vs a traditional wire nuts: https://youtu.be/B1pmuRsf1co?si=m_hFUZq8ZVbXKxhQ

London Calling is a perfect album where every song is just so, and yet, "The Card Cheat" is perhaps the most exceptional song on that album. The band never performed it live, because the recording was so complex -- each part was recorded twice in a "wall of sound" effect, and it has no traditional chorus. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Calling
