We've had another #ChaoticSummer. Floods, bushfires, cyclones, heatwaves, record humidity. Climate change is supercharging our weather and our continuing reliance on #fossilfuels is supercharging #climatechange.
We must move to 100% renewables and cool our planet down!

NAIDOC Week commences today (Sunday July 2) and continues until next Sunday July 9.

The theme of NAIDOC Week this year is “For Our Elders”, paying tribute to the important role played by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders in their communities and in our nation.

For around 65,000 years Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders have guided their people in lovingly caring for their country and their environment.

However, in the last 235 years those who have arrived and occupied this land have exploited its resources, damaged the environment and helped trigger changes to the climate. This has all happened without the traditional owners and their Elders having any say in their fate.

First Nations justice is Climate Justice.

With that in mind, Climate Action Burwood-Canada Bay:
• Endorses the Uluru Statement from the Heart
• Supports constitutional recognition for First Nations people
• Supports the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Federal Parliament
