Does anyone on infosec.exchange know what to make of this report that lockbit (which is said to be a Russian ransomware group) has the US Federal Reserve by the balls:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/lockbit-claims-federal-breach-threatens-232219114.html

https://www.fxstreet.com/analysis/americans-bank-info-could-be-at-risk-in-possible-fed-hack-202406241802

I am not read in on lockbit's status, etc. etc. Is there a smarty-pants in the house?

Also the article says "Tuesday" and the 24th. If it's the 24th, I guess it passed without the world turning over. If it's Tuesday (the 25th), I still have time to fantasize about the end of western civilization as we know it.

> How can you declare that summers feel so much hotter than when you were younger yet still deny climate change?!

To play devil's advocate: Is one lifetime long enough to make a meaningful measure of climate? Also, maybe the person wasn't wearing a suit and tie to work every day as a kid?

@glennpegden

> And if it is a thing, why have a never noticed before!

It's a thing. You haven't noticed it because you're probably too young to have run dos2unix a million times a day for the first part of your career.

Does anyone out there understand how the deal between Broadcomm and ByteDance doesn't violate the export restrictions?

Source: https://www.reuters.com/technology/artificial-intelligence/chinas-bytedance-working-with-broadcom-develop-advanced-ai-chip-sources-say-2024-06-24/

The article just says that "a source" stated that it doesn't. Apparently major economic decisions are made by the same kind of "that's just store policy" bullshit that gets me surrounded by security guards at Kohl's.

I'm not even complaining, I'm just wondering what sort of back-room deal must have been made, and how many chip execs who moved their families and lives out of China two years ago must be *pissed* right now?
