I'm going to move this account over to @christa! thanks for making a good temporary local home, sfba.social - it's been really fun to see so many folks in the area joining the fediverse and to have a nice instance home for people to land
I wrote a quick thread about adopt a drain, civic tech projects, and tech solutionism vs community resilience over on the (yet another account) where I intend to talk about those sorts of things: https://mastodon.publicinterest.town/web/@christa/109637661557174041 #cawx #sfwx #civictech

Content warning: civic tech / adopt a drain / SF weather

Hometown
brief walk around park presidio this morning was surprisingly clear! drains stayed clear throughout the rains yesterday, think the rain a few days before gave us and neighbors a test run keeping clear #cawx
@alinapaz covid negative, at least! jim and I have been sick for about a week and a half, I think it's RSV. feels like we've gone through the worst, but just long tail
@HeterodoxThis yeah, they're totally fucked with mental health care. also trying to get a pcr test while I was in southern california, despite ostensibly being in same network, was a total mess. spent two hours on the phone and gave up. but, some things they're good at.

The new imagery of this storm this morning is...just as impressive. Wow.

Rain and wind will ramp up later this PM into the evening and peaking overnight in NorCal, and somewhat later in SoCal. If anything, expected winds have increased slightly since yesterday. #CAwx

I managed to schedule, take, and get results from a Kaiser PCR test in less than an hour total today. scheduled online at 8:30a, taken at 9a, results by 9:30a. wild
@dannyman also, consistently posting long threads get me to unfollow pretty quickly in most cases, though again, it varies by person and topic.
@dannyman it varies by instance! partly because I want to follow different people for different reasons (so may unfollow if I don't know a person and they're posting things I no longer find interesting), and partly because hometown gives you the ability to create exclusive lists. for vanilla mastodon instances I tend to unfollow people who post a ton, just because it crowds out other people. in hometown I can put them in their own list to check from time-to-time, so not as much of an issue.

Drakes Beach at Sunrise, Point Reyes National Seashore, CA, 2022.

Part of a recent series and focus on this landscape. It would have been interesting to see how clouds in the sky would change this image, but I quite like the minimalism.
