Its complicated. I have/had to write a ton for my day job and much of the skills I have honed through that I am now applying to my creative writing (fiction and nonfiction.) But I do not feel like the creativity part I can bring my full self. Work world is to full of "Norms." Skills yes, freedom of creativity, no.
I have been reading, writing and exploring Flash, Micro and Short Short fiction over the last year. Today Dog Throat Journal published a piece of mine, which is the first time a fiction story of mine has ever been published. I am thrilled!

Someone else promotion day
I recently read the first Nina Bell Mystery by @DevonEllington and had a blast revisiting the NYC of my 20s. Sharp writing, a good mystery yarn and captured the era/locale like someone who lived it. Nina is a great character and her mix of confidence and vulnerability made her an appealing lead. I enjoyed being in her POV.
