I used to work at Wirecutter and other AV places, and even before that I wrote software, now I work at Apple doing cool things. Dad, runner, reasonable Magic: The Gathering player.
@kenny113 Tested a bit more yesterday and my phone can hear me clearly on the Peak Design holder out front as well (just recently got it) and it was fairly windy yesterday which made the bike home harder than usual but it still picked me up and opened the door.
@kenny113 If I hold up my watch it will pick it up, but I also have my phone on a bike mount (Peak Design, it's very nice) and that can hear me as well and do it. Since I have the bike data displayed on the phone when I ride it seems to work fine for me.
@maddox I finally did test out AVP but only watched a bit of Hugo in 3D since I watched the movie for every TV and Projector I tested for years. The lack of crosstalk and extra brightness were so much better, it made me not hate watching it in 3D for once since those issues were removed.
@paul I installed the Meross a few months ago and it was easy enough though the long cable is annoying. But very nice to be able to open the garage from down the street and bike directly into it coming home from work.
@JetForMe @paul It's got 2.5Gb Ethernet built in.
‘Avatar’ and the Headache of High Frame Rate Filmmaking

Why do James Cameron and others experiment with this? Intended to eliminate blur, it is actually unnerving in scenes involving humans or real objects.

The New York Times

@maddox For Avatar 2 in the theater (note: I've not seen either Avatar film ever) I believe they swapped between 24 and 48 fps depending on the type of scene, so if it did that at home it wouldn't surprise me.

I've not had a chance to try AVP yet, but a couple coworkers ordered them so hopefully I can give it a shot (my vision isn't that bad so standard lenses might be OK).

@maddox How does the High Frame Rate video look? That's what I'm curious about.
@SwiftOnSecurity I stopped posting a few years ago unless it’s from the back. My accounts are locked for friends only as well.
@maddox Not sure I want to see my MTG Arena and Diablo IV stats honestly...
