Poll shows 8 out of 10 Ontarians want hospitals fixed, not privatized

Got the only holiday gift I wanted, an email that my scholarship application passed internal adjudication and has officially been received by the funding body. Now, three months or so of holding my breath until I find out if I get it or not. If I get it, I can afford to stay in my program, if not, time for plan b. #PhdLife
Journalists will never stick around this app long term sadly unless it adds quote posting. We desperately need it to communicate effectively, build on each others ideas, and add crucial context to posts. These are things replies simply do not accomplish. Also quote posting or reblogging does not = harassment! Tumblr, for instance, has had the feature since the beginning. We need it here now too 🙏🏻

COVID minimizers and deniers have been wrong every step of the way:

- Mass infection didn't give us herd immunity, it left millions dead/disabled globally

- Masks and stay-at-home orders reduced spread

- Schools were transmission hubs

- Kids have died/gotten long COVID

- Vaccines have saved millions

But being wrong hasn't stopped them from publicly fantasizing about holding public trials/executions of public health officials.

A majority of Americans, including 77% of young people, approve of labor unions.

Just thought I'd pop in and remind you of that.

Since I don’t have to be anywhere and am stocked up on supplies , the winter storm just feels cozy. You couldn’t pay me to go outside though.

"We think people panic during a crisis.

Actually, most do the opposite.

Basically, we can’t count on 70 percent of people responding to threats the way they should. We have to keep disrupting their normalcy bias.

Politicians and billionaires are going to exploit our biases to keep everyone believing that everything’s fine, even when it’s not. The more acute the dangers grow, the more pressure we’ll feel to act normal.

Don’t."

Just one last class left of my first semester as a doctoral student and I’m sad that it’s ending. Chronic illness has me working a lot slower than I’d like and being less present in the community than I’d prefer but I seem to be managing so far. Muddling through is not how I wanted to do a PhD but I’m glad I’m doing it either way. Nattokinase seems to helped with my long COVID symptoms some, fingers crossed I can get back to baseline .
