The Podcast Index has an ActivityPub implementation, and now I can follow some of my more irreverent non-techie podcasts directly on the fediverse. So cool! Hopefully they'll add a Follow button soon...but in the meantime:
1) Find your podcast on the site
2) Grab the numeric value at the end of the url
3) Search for the podcast with this name `{numericValue}@ap.podcastindex.org`
Is thenewoil.org a useful resource?
Is it useful for people with limited tech knowledge? Is the organization trustworthy? I don't know enough about any of this to vet it, but a basic primer would be useful for me and my even less tech savvy relatives. #privacy
American physicist and chemist Katharine Burr Blodgett was born #OTD in 1898.
She was the inventor of a technique for making non-reflecting "invisible" glass, a material used in virtually all camera lenses & many other optical devices. She was also responsible for developing an instrument that can measure film thicknesses to within a few angstroms. She did research on methods of removing ice from airplane wings. She is also credited with the development of a new type of smoke screen.
