Last Saturday, I greeted some people who had crossed the Channel on precarious small boats who had been intercepted and landed at the Port of Ramsgate. The young man who died, of sepsis (ffs!), is reported to have arrived last Saturday. He may have been one of those fellows I greeted. They looked utterly spent, exhausted and bewildered. But they smiled and nodded as I spoke with them and told them they were safe. I told them they were safe 😞
