One more while it's still #InverteFest. A female bluet damsefly—probably Enallagma hageni or ebrium, but it would take a microscope to tell which. Female bluets aren't flashy, but I think the pale green color of this one is pretty, and the narrow black shoulder stripes are on point.
Ants can learn. They can't learn calculus, but they memorize the terrain around their nest.
If there is a tree that's good for raising aphids, they will secure the tree from other colonies *before the aphids show up*
Really many insects can learn, but ants and bees are among the most complex.
Letter shark - The top line of the medieval page often contains letters extended into the upper margin ("cadels"). Usually scribes simply added some upward decorative lines. But you can also turn the T into a shark of course, and give it a silly Napoleon hat.
