Over 1,100 varieties of botanical, ancient, and modern roses. The collection includes rare specimens from around the world. The Rose Garden is located on the Aventine Hill, overlooking the unique panorama of the Circus Maximus, and is considered one of the most fascinating rose gardens in the world. The area that today houses the Rose Garden was, from 1645 to 1934, the cemetery of the Jewish Community of Rome. With the new urban planning scheme, it was decided to transform it into public green space, while the cemetery was relocated to the Israelite sector of the Verano, where it became monumental.
