A while back, photographs come back showing a geological formation on Mars that resembled a humanoid face. People believed it was evidence of previous inhabitants, until technology advanced and we got a higher resolution of the same formation.
Bad journalism example - San Diego did not build the homes, they are being built in San Diego by private contractors. The homes were not completed last year, that is the year that the permits were applied for. Last year's building activity was not greater than the previous 17 years combined, but greater that any single year in the past 17.
Bad journalism example - the headline is half a metaphor that fails because federal agencies are not as volatile as gasoline. Their intent would have been better served by using a headline like, 'the Supreme Court just tossed a molotov cocktail at dozens of federal agencies. And by including a photo of Justice Roberts shaking hands with Donald Trump (who has no association with the court case), an association is explicitly created between the Supreme Court decision and the former president.
