How often do you send a sensitive file to another activist? Maybe that JPG contains details about an upcoming protest. Or does that Word document have other activists’ personally identifiable information (PII)? Perhaps that PDF has private information about a family your organization is supporting. What’s the best way to send that file to other activists?

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security today released a new ICE recruiting poster, under the stilted and sexist tagline, "Which way, American man?"

Why did they use that weird language? Because it's a dog whistle, something ordinary humans won't notice but that those attuned to it will respond to. And it's literally a Nazi dog whistle.

William Gayley Simpson was a Presbyterian pastor who decided Christianity wasn't workable and consciously decided to become a racist instead. In 1978 he published a book, "Which Way, Western Man?" – a manifesto calling on white men to defeat all other races. Some nuggets include:

"Let me preface what I am about to say by declaring frankly that I am prepared to accept violence on the part of our people. The Jews’ hold on our throat is not going to be relaxed until we break their grip. Hitler felt that he had to take to the streets. All normal approach to his people was barred. Today, we are confronted with much the same situation here."

"The point is to reveal organized Jewry as a world power entrenched in every country of the White man’s world...."

You might think that 1978 is too long ago for anyone to remember, but this book was republished in 2003 by a neo-Nazi group called the National Alliance, and is a bestseller among neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups.

In other words, the federal government is recruiting Nazis and other racists to join ICE, which is being deployed in cities across the country and arresting both citizens and non-citizens alike.

Folks, this literally is fascism. You think I enjoy posting this stuff here all the time? I don't. But this literally is fascism. They're literally following the Nazi playbook. And they'll follow it to the very end.

What's the most common feedback/comment I've received over the past month? "I used to like reading your stuff when you didn't write about politics all the time."

My response: Me too. But they've left me no choice at this point. If you think tech isn't politics and vice versa, you probably don't believe national security and cybersecurity are two sides of the same coin, either.

A Tennessee mainstream news piece went out yesterday covering Patriot Front and including detailed aerial photographs of their compound in the east of the state.

While we're glad that this information is reaching a wide audience, and overall Phil Williams has done fantastic work covering the far right, we'd also like to note that our group is the one that originally exposed Ian Michael Elliott in 2021 and also first discovered and published the location and ownership of the compound in 2024.

We're not mentioning our original pieces because we're in it for the credit, but because it's better for everyone when news sources cite original antifascist grassroots research. The more exposure our pieces get, the more likely it is we get tips on white supremacist activity.

Many people just learned about Sverige’s chat backdoor proposal from an interview with Signal CEO @Mer__edith with SVT Nyheter. It is similar to the EU’s and UK’s recent chat control proposal.

@dfri fights for digital privacy rights in Sverige and responded to the government’s request for comment in January.
