@carnage4life One thing I see RTO struggling with is that RTO is not enough. You also have end distributed teams, and ultimately cluster your domains by region. If you don’t, everyone is in the office on Zoom anyway

I'm very happy with the v4 release of Geo, the Elixir library for representing geographic data like points, lines, & polygons.

We added better handling of data that's technically malformed but unambiguous, as well as better conformance to the GeoJSON spec.

All of this came from community contributions, either of code directly or by reporting issues that we could then easily implement. 💜

@carnage4life I’ve been on the other side, trying structure equity grants to be competitive. What isn’t talked about much, is that it isn’t sustainable without one of two things: growth that massively eclipses the awards, or periodic buybacks. Otherwise you’re materially diluting investors. So yes, zero interest rate phenomenon.
If anyone is salty about the $14 billion tax decision against Apple this morning, you can probably find some peace by viewing it as a fine for giving customers four years of dogshit laptop keyboards.

If true, Apple demanding rent from Patreon subscriptions is particularly offensive. The people who Apple will be stealing money from, online creators, don't have any relationship with Apple here. They didn't ask to be here.

Apple made a billion dollars in profit last quarter *every four days*. This is wholly unnecessary. It is pure evil greed. They really weren't screwing around when they made an ad destroying all of those creative instruments and art tools. https://news.patreon.com/articles/understanding-apple-requirements-for-patreon

Nothing says winning business strategy like suing advertisers for not advertising on your platform.

Almost as brilliant as firing all the sales people and unbanning the Nazis then wondering why advertisers have abandoned your platform.

@daringfireball I find betting on culture a better predictor of success. OpenAI sounds like Google in the early years: a massive concentration of highly motivated talent with autonomy. Google increasingly feels like it’s run by McKinsey. Layoffs, outsourcing to cheaper countries, shutting down products endlessly.

Google could save itself, but I can’t see how it would do it without unfucking search and impacting quarterly profits. A bold company would do that. I don’t think that is Google.

I humbly ask every YouTuber ever to please get to the point.
